About Kate

Kate Day is an EMDRIA-approved Trainer who is passionate about EMDR and has designed this training to help therapists understand the big-picture perspective of how EMDR work, so there is less need to rely upon scripts and protocols. Rather, trainees will learn what happens within the client, when to stay out of the way, and when to facilitate the flow of the process. This ensures that trainees will feel confident taking the powerful modality of EMDR into their own practice.

This training will include 20 hours of lecture centered on the foundational aspects of EMDR; including how it was discovered, relevant research, how it works, and the 8 Phases of EMDR. Kate will help you understand the big picture of why EMDR works and what your role as a therapist is in your clients' process.

In addition, Kate will cover advanced techniques for complex clients and specialized procedures for anxiety, depression, addiction, as well as dysfunctional ways of behaving, thinking, and relating that are created by early attachment trauma and childhood programming.

Kate will teach you how to update your clients' old, dysfunctional childhood programming that is creating dysfunction in their current adult lives and relationships.  The programs that your clients create out of necessity in their families of origin, to avoid punishment and earn affection are still running in the background and causing much of the presenting problems that your clients show up with. Reprocessing the relationships with caregivers leads to immense healing in their lives.

This training will also include 20 hours of real time EMDR practicum. You will get a personal understanding of how it works from the perspective of the client as well as sufficient practice as an EMDR therapist to feel confident to take it to your own practice.

Unprocessed trauma is stored maladaptively in the brain, trapping a part of the client in it until it can be processed. You will learn how to free this inner child by draining out the pain and adding the current adult perspective and understanding of these relationships to the child part. This alone corrects much of the dysfunction the client is repeating in their adult life. Help your clients find freedom with EMDR!
